Services & Techniques

Wow – what a year!  Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t embrace change vey well.  This year, I made big changes… I might have dragged my feet a bit, but by golly I made the changes!

I remember Grandpa’s office having several unique pieces in the reception area.  Little quotes he had collected and a few he had framed.  One was “Do you want to see the man in charge or the woman who knows what’s going on?”  As a kid, I don’t think I understood this.  Now as an adult, I can appreciate all the behind the scenes work Grandma did for Grandpa.  I can appreciate it even further now as a married man.  That’s right, I got hitched to a beautiful woman named Rachel.  She stepped right up not only planning the wedding but helping with the design of the office as well.  We got married mid-April, went to a chiropractic conference the next weekend (romantic, huh?), and spent the first weekend of May up late many nights getting the new office ready.  What a blur – but we did it!  She too continues to help with many behind the scenes stuff as well!

Originally when I moved to town in 2008, I had worked for another chiropractor for 8.5 years.  When we parted ways in 2016, I opened my own office located on Sheridan Lake Road in the Stony Creek Plaza.  I learned a lot but knew I did not want to rent the rest of my career, if possible.  In 2021 I started to research and picked a lot of brains and eventually found a location at 2001 Hope Court – right across the street from Black Hills Energy on the corner of highway16 and Catron Boulevard.  What a busy location!  We went with a completely new design and layout.  While this was very uncomfortable the first few weeks, it clearly was the right change.  New staff started at this time as well and we continue to gel and grow.  It is a great feeling knowing your staff aligns with your vision and mission.

I have only taken a weeklong vacation once in my career which was in 2012.  This year, I had the opportunity to help a friend on a Wyoming bighorn sheep hunt – but it involved a week out of my brand-new office.  If you know anything about hunting bighorn sheep, the tags are rare and/or expensive and the physical demands are some of the most challenging.  We rode 15 miles into base camp at 11000 feet west of Cody.  On the first full day of the hunt, my friend was successful just 3 more miles into the wilderness.  Perfect weather and no bears with a beautiful ram.  What an experience!  And guess what – all my patients were excited and happy for me, and we picked up right where we left off.  Time away from the office is not easy, especially when people are hurting.  However, I do think time away from work from time to time is healthy too.  Finding that balance is not always easy!

Then as if the year didn’t have enough excitement, I drew an almost once-in-a-lifetime archery elk tag for the Black Hills. I was challenged more than I ever imagined, and again, I was able to appreciate all the work my wife and staff do to keep things running smoothly.   Thanks to the help of a few good friends, I was able to fill that tag with a beautiful mature bull elk!

Thanks for reading a brief summary of 2022.  I am anxious to see what the Lord has planned for 2023!
